SUMMARY:"Dobbiamo essere leoni" at Nora Book & Coffee - With Genderlens and Fika Podcast
DESCRIPTION:Nora Books & Coffee hosts this colourful and inspiring event where together with the association Genderlens we will present Dobbiamo essere leoni.\n\n\nThere is a new girl in the class! Malin is excited: Leona could become her new best friend and help her stand up to Sarah and her wicked classmates. But the new girl is extremely shy and reserved: she speaks little about herself\, doesn’t post pictures on social media\, keeps to herself\, doesn’t explain why her family moved away. The more Malin tries to get to know her\, the more obvious it is that Leona has a secret. Suddenly an uncomfortable truth is revealed to everyone and the balance of the class is upset. But thanks to the courage of a few\, things will begin to change and diversity will no longer be something to hide…\nThe theme of gender identity told by the teens\, FOR the teens\n\n\nGenderLens is an association of parents with gender variant or trans children/adolescents who claim rights for these young lives. Rights that in Italy are denied on a legislative and institutional as well as a social level.\nBut trans childhood and adolescence also exist in Italy!\n“THANK GOODNESS THERE IS GenderLens”.\n\nPresented by Federica of Fika Podcast\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n  \nWhen? Kamil is a child like any other: he is cheerful and lively\, five years old\, goes to kindergarten and loves to make silly jokes. But what makes him special? He has been blind since birth.\nIt was not easy growing up with a visual impairment\, but with the help of his loved ones Kamil learned to sharpen his hearing\, train his imagination and ‘look with his hands’. His outlook on life is rich\, ironic\, sometimes funny\, sometimes touching. But is he really so different from the others? Kamil’s adventures\, with his challenges and successes\, remind us of one thing that we must never forget and that we all have in common: if we want to\, we can succeed at anything! \nA book about breaking barriers\, because even a blind child can do anything \n“Il bambino che guarda con le mani“\, written by Tomasz Małkowski\, illustrated by Joanna Rusinek\, translated by Laura Rescio. \nWhen? SUMMARY:"Mirabella" at Più Libri Più Liberi in Roma
DESCRIPTION:Seeds and roots: remembering the past to change the future\nA profound\, moving\, beautifully illustrated novel about the importance of memory. In this story\, Polish writer Cezary Harasimowicz introduces a very special narrator: the Mirabella tree. Grown up in the Warsaw ghetto\, Mirabella has seen History pass under her branches: the Nazi invasion\, the Holocaust\, Stalinism\, but also the cement that ate away the green corners of the city. A bittersweet book that offers wonderful food for thought: if in the Jewish tradition planting a tree symbolises life that goes on\, today this gesture can change our future\, helping us to cope with the climate crisis we are experiencing.\nThe book presentation will be followed by a workshop\, during which we will cultivate (literally) together with our readers a new hope for our planet. \nParticipants will include:\nCezary Harasimowicz\, screenwriter\, actor and playwright\, his scripts have been turned into successful TV series and films. He is also the author of radio plays and TV dramas. Winner of the international Hartley-Merill Screenwriting Award\, he works with the best Polish directors and is a member of the European Film Academy. For MIMebù he is the author of Mirabella.\nLaura Rescio has been working for more than fifteen years as a translator from Polish\, Dutch and English. Her translations have been published by major publishers including Adelphi\, Bollati Boringhieri\, Fabbri\, Feltrinelli\, Piemme and Scheiwiller. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n  \nWhen? SUMMARY:Piccole poesie di famiglia at Biblioteca Lercari
DESCRIPTION:Piccole poesie di famiglia at the Lercari Library: meeting with translator Linda Del Sarto\nOn Saturday 29 November\, the Lercari library in Genoa hosted a very special meeting: the children of class VA of the I.C. San Fruttuoso met our own Linda Del Sarto\, translator of Piccole poesie di famiglia\, Barbara Schiaffino\, director of Andersen magazine\, and Sergio Maifredi\, artistic director of the Ligurian Public Theatre. \nAfter the class had arranged itself in a circle\, Sergio Maifredi briefly introduced Michał Rusinek (unfortunately absent)\, highlighting his special relationship with Nobel laureate Szymborska. Afterwards\, a short video made by the author for MIMebù and available online was shown: in this way\, the children put a face to the writer of the book and became familiar with him. \n \n  \nAfterwards\, the subject of the book was explained in detail: Barbara Schiaffino elaborated on rhyming poetry\, its musicality and importance for use at school. Linda Del Sarto then spoke about the work of translation\, making the original language heard and comparing it with the Italian result each time. Her readings\, then\, were many and the children actively commented\, making parallels with their own familiar stories. There were several foreigners\, including one Czech\, who was able to recognise a few Polish words. At this point\, they moved on to talk about the importance of language knowledge and the topic of bilingualism\, especially in today’s globalised world. \nAt the end\, the students handed Linda Del Sarto a notebook containing some poems they had written in class in the previous days\, in preparation for the meeting on Piccole poesie di famiglia: all of them speak in a funny way about “ancestors… oddballs!”\, as the title of this splendid collection itself states. \n

SUMMARY:"Dobbiamo essere leoni" at the Turin Book Fair
DESCRIPTION:Dobbiamo essere leoni – Gender identity told by teens\, for teens – SalTo+\nThe 2021 edition of the Turin Book Fair presented in its programme several events related to inclusivity and the LGBT+ world\, now well known to the youngest but still obscure to the older generations. The ideal setting in which to propose a meeting dedicated to We Must Be Lions\, the novel by Line Baugstø published by MIMebù in September 2021. \nThe story of Malin\, Leona and their friends can be a very useful starting point for introducing the theme of gender identity at school\, and in fact the meeting was attended by several classes\, girls and boys who were attentive and interested in the book and the topics covered\, also thanks to the intervention of Irene Facheris\, psychologist and content creator\, who also works as a trainer in schools\, addressing both students and school staff. She was joined by Federica Caslotti\, voice of Fika Podcast\, a virtual space where we talk about books\, feminism and curiosities\, and Lorenza Novelli\, MIMebù’s events manager\, who for the occasion acted as spokesperson for Line Baugstø\, the author\, who was unable to fly to Italy but participated at a distance in the event\, with a video message dedicated to Italian readers. \nThey talked about diversity and inclusion\, the courage to be oneself and the importance of not remaining silent in the face of injustice. An intense and interesting afternoon\, especially for adults\, who always have so much to learn from children. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\nWhen?
