Linda Del Sarto won the ‘Benno Geiger’ prize for young translators, organised by the Giorgio Cini Foundation, with “Piccole poesie di famiglia”, the colourful, unexpected and poetic book by Michał Rusinek.

Matteo Lefèvre and Linda Del Sarto are the translators who will receive the “Benno Geiger” Poetic Translation Prize 2022 at 5pm on Friday 4 November 2022 during a ceremony. In this edition, the ninth since its institution in 2014 in memory of the Austrian scholar Benno Geiger, 54 works were submitted by 40 publishers, with translations from almost twenty languages, a sign of great editorial vivacity, as well as growing attention to the initiative promoted by the Giorgio Cini Foundation.

“My family, seen from the outside, is a bit like any other… But do you think there really is a normal family? I am convinced that in each of us there is some strangeness, each of us has had some adventure, each of us can tell some bizarre anecdote. And the same goes for families! Here you have the complete and extravagant catalogue of my family (of ours, actually, since my sister is the book’s illustrator), told through 50 little poems inspired by our ancestors: there are the kidnappers (which one is the real culprit?), the flight attendant, the tailor, the prisoner and many others!”
