Michał Rusinek was born in 1972 in Krakow, where he still lives.

He was the personal secretary of Nobel Prize-winning poet Wisława Szymborska, with whom he shared a fraternal friendship and whose Foundation he now runs. He is Professor of Literary Theory, Translation Theory and Creative Writing at the Department of Polish Studies at the Jagiellonian University. He translates from English, writes books for children and adults and is an established journalist. In 2019, the Italian edition of his book Nulla di ordinario. Su Wislawa Szymborska was published by Adelphi.
